With its high sensitivity (QE>89%), the ToupTek GPM 462C colour camera is primarily useful as a guide camera, but it can also be used for planetary imaging and video capture. The ToupTek GPM 462C colour camera also features 512 MB of internal DDR3 buffer memory, improving data transfer and reducing the sensor's so-called “amp glow” noise.
Featuring a back-illuminated Sony IMX462 sensor, this 2.07-megapixel camera delivers exceptionally clean, low-noise images even at shorter exposure times thanks to its extremely low read noise. For even better results, we recommend choosing one of the higher-frame-rate ToupTek models.
The small 2.9 μm pixel size ensures the capture of fine details, while the 12-bit output enables recording of 4,096 rich tonal levels. The camera features a built-in UV/IR-cut filter, so there is no need to purchase these separately.
It is also suitable for capturing fainter deep-sky objects, such as planetary nebulae and compact galaxies, as well as double stars. If required, 1.25" filters can be used with the included C-mount/1.25" adapter. Thanks to the standard C-mount connection, the camera can also be used directly with optional C-mount lenses, and with a suitable adapter, it can even be used as a microscope camera.
The ToupTek GPM 462C colour camera features a USB-C 2.0 connection and can record at up to 1920x1080 pixel resolution at 18 frames per second.
A range of free image capture software is available online. For Windows, we particularly recommend SharpCap and FireCapture, although the camera also works excellently with the manufacturer’s own ToupSky software. The popular PHD2 software also supports the camera, while the ASCOM driver provides even broader device compatibility. The cameras can be used with Windows, Linux and Macintosh operating systems.
