Thanks to its exceptionally high-contrast, sharp image quality, Saturn’s magnificent rings and the Cassini Division within them offer an unforgettable experience. Jupiter’s swirling cloud bands and Great Red Spot cannot remain hidden from the observer’s eye either. Naturally, the silvery gleaming lunar disc is also a captivating sight, with its countless craters. In addition, numerous colourful double stars and sparkling star clusters can be observed with this instrument.
Extensive equipment
The telescope comes with 25 mm and 10 mm Super Barium eyepieces, providing 36x and 90x magnification. Using the included Barlow lens, additional magnifications of 54x, 72x, 135x and 180x can be achieved. A mirror diagonal makes astronomical observation more comfortable. (This results in an image reversed from left to right, but this causes no particular difficulty when observing the night sky.) For terrestrial observation, an upright, correct-image view can be achieved by purchasing an optional Amici prism. Its 1.25" focuser features a T2 thread at the end, allowing DSLR cameras to be attached.
The 6x30 finder scope makes locating celestial objects easier and provides an inverted image in the standard model. (The deluxe version of the telescope includes an upright-image finder scope, making celestial objects easier to identify according to the orientation of star charts.)
Equatorial mount
The EQ-2 mount features slow-motion controls, allowing the sky to be tracked smoothly and easily by hand. The optional clock drive makes this even easier by automatically keeping the selected target within the telescope’s field of view. The accessory tray of the SkyWatcher 90/900 refractor can hold various accessories, even a hot cup of observing tea. The extendable aluminium legs can be adjusted to suit the observer’s height. If affordability is the priority, choose the EQ-2 version; if outstanding stability is more important, choose the EQ-3 version.
