Chromatic aberration is minimised by Japanese-made Ohara FPL51 ED glass. The Svbony SV503 ED 70 mm APO refractor features a two-element objective lens and an integrated two-element field flattener. Precision mechanical design

Precise focusing for photography is provided by a dual-speed Crayford focuser with a 1:10 reduction ratio. Accurate focuser adjustment is aided by a 70 mm-long scale with 1 mm increments. Popular ZWO EAF and ToupTek AAF electronic focusers can be fitted to the focuser using longer mounting screws.
The telescope can be attached to a mount using the tube rings and Vixen-standard dovetail bar. One of the mounting screw positions on the dovetail bar is adjustable, ensuring that the retracted dew shield does not interfere while still allowing a wide range of balance adjustment when the dew shield is extended. When needed, the telescope can also be used on a sufficiently sturdy video tripod, as the centre of the dovetail bar features a 1/4" photo tripod mounting thread.
