A Coating on the Scopium dielectric zenith glass material provides 99% light reflectance, so it's visibly brighter and more contrasting than traditional aluminium coatings, which reflect only 88% of light. Another measure of quality is the accuracy of surface finish, where Scopium dielectric zenith mirrors also have a very high Lambda 1/10. The carbon fibre patterned side plates give the product a unique appearance.
Dielectric coatings have numerous advantages over conventional ones: they do not age over time, meaning they retain their reflectivity over time. The coating is much harder, so it does not scratch during cleaning. Last but not least, it scatters less light than aluminium coatings and the resulting image is more contrasty, which is an advantage especially for planetary and binary star observation.
The body of the music mirror is made of aluminium, as opposed to the plastic housing of cheaper music mirrors. The interior is matte black, coated with a light-absorbing material, and has a recessed design for minimal glare.
The unique attention to detail doesn't stop there: the music mirror has a brass clamping ring, so it won't scratch the eyepiece's eyepiece lens when attached. Of course, a 2" filter thread is standard, as is a 2"-1.25" taper.
The Scopium Dielectric Zenith Mirror can be purchased with an SC adapter for mounting on Schmidt-Cassegrain binoculars, or with an additional MC/SC adapter for direct mounting on Makszutov Cassegrain binoculars. What's more: the adapter also has a T2 thread, so that accessories with a T2 connection can be used instead of the music mirror.
