The Baader Hyperion 8–24 zoom eyepiece continues the tradition of fixed focal length Hyperion eyepieces, delivering premium image quality at an exceptionally attractive price.
This zoom eyepiece offers numerous innovations and unique features: in addition to its continuously adjustable focal length between 8 mm and 24 mm, it features click-stop positions at 8, 12, 16, 20 and 24 mm, making precise focal length selection remarkably easy. This feature is especially useful when using two eyepieces at the same magnification in a binoviewer. Furthermore, it is nearly parfocal throughout the magnification range, meaning that only minimal refocusing is required when changing magnification.
Unlike typical zoom eyepieces, this model does not suffer from a narrow field of view: even at the 24 mm setting, it reaches the familiar 50° field of view of Plössl eyepieces, increasing to as much as 68° at the 8 mm setting.
The Baader Hyperion 8–24 zoom eyepiece consists of 7 lens elements, with every lens surface treated with Baader's proprietary Phantom™ coating, which minimises internal reflections and ensures outstanding image sharpness and contrast. Eye relief varies between 12 and 15 mm, providing comfortable viewing. It can be used in both 1.25" and 2" focusers, and both barrels feature standard filter threads.
The unique refinements do not end there: the eyepiece can be connected directly to SkyWatcher Acuter and Celestron Ultima spotting scopes, while its top features a threaded connection for attaching an M43/T2 adapter and a DSLR camera via a T2 ring for eyepiece projection photography. The two additional supplied eyecups can also be fitted onto this thread.
New! The Mark IV version is narrower and lighter than previous models while retaining the excellent optical performance of its predecessors. New features include a small case for storing the eyepiece when not in use, as well as a redesigned 2" focuser barrel.
The ring called the "B-Adapter for Telescopes" is supplied pre-installed on the eyepiece. When used in a 1/4" mirror diagonal, it serves as a spacer, providing clearance for the eyepiece retaining screws.
