The Baader Hyperion 8-24 zoom eyepiece continues the tradition of Hyperion fixed-focus eyepieces, offering top-quality images at a very affordable price.
This zoom eyepiece has a number of innovations and unique features: in addition to being infinitely adjustable between 8mm and 24mm focus, there are stop positions at 8-12-16-20-24mm, making precise focus adjustment very easy. This feature is particularly useful when using two eyepieces at the same magnification in a binocular viewfinder. In addition, it is nearly parfocal within the magnification range, meaning that only a small amount of focus adjustment is required when changing magnification.
Nor is the narrow field of view of zoom eyepieces typical of this model: at a focus of just 24 mm, it reaches the 50° that is common with Plössl eyepieces, increasing to 68° at 8 mm.
The Baader Hyperion 8-24 zoom eyepiece consists of 7 lens elements, and each lens surface is vapor-coated with Baader's unique Phantom coating, which minimizes internal reflections for outstanding image sharpness and contrast. The eyepiece's pupil distance varies between 12-15mm, allowing for comfortable viewing.Available in both 1.25" and 2" frames, both connections feature standard filter threads.
The unique goodies don't end there: the eyepiece can be directly attached to SkyWatcher Acuter and Celestron Ultima spectra, and there is a threaded mount on the top for attaching SLR cameras to the eyepiece for projection photography via the M43/T2 adapter and T2 ring. The two additional eyecups supplied can also be attached to this thread.
New! The Mark IV version is narrower and lighter than previous models while retaining the excellent optical qualities of its predecessors. New features include a tiny case to put the eyepiece in when not in use and a new design for the 2" eyepiece.
A ring called "B-Adapter for Telescopes" is factory fitted on the eyepiece, its role is to provide space for the eyepiece mounting screws when used in 1/4" zenith mirrors (as spacers).
