There's no doubt that the SkyWatcher 114/900 Newtonian is the ideal choice for those who can afford the price of a department store telescope for an astronomical instrument.
The 11 cm optics are large enough and of high quality to show the moon's larger and smaller craters, but the ring of Saturn or the cloud bands of Jupiter are not hidden from curious eyes. With enough patience, you can also get the brightest galaxies and star clusters on the telescope.
The manufacturer has made a clever compromise between quality and size. The package includes 10 and 25 mm Super Bárium eyepieces, which provide magnifications of 36x and 90x. The standard accessory Barlow lens multiplies these magnifications, giving an additional 72x, 180x magnifications. Delux versions come with a 6x30 viewfinder, while the base model comes with a much smaller and simpler 6x24.
The SkyWatcher 114/900 Newtonian telescopes are available in two configurations, EQ-1 and EQ-2 with mounts. The latter has a higher load capacity, so it shakes less during use. Both mounts are available with fine adjustment and can be upgraded with a clockwork. The eyepiece tray can be fitted with a wide range of accessories, including the sighting telescope. And the extendable aluminium foot can be adjusted to your height.
