The ToupTek off-axis guider (OAG-L) is well-suited for astrophotography with APS-C or even full-frame cameras, thanks to its large clear aperture. It perfectly complements the range of ToupTek astrophotography products, allowing the components to be easily assembled into a complete set.
Its use eliminates the need for a separate guide scope, thus reducing the potential for one less error during image capture. The ToupTek off-axis guider redirects a small portion of light from the telescope's optical path to the guide camera sensor using a 10x10 mm prism. Since the astrophotography camera and the guider camera use the same optical path, the system eliminates errors that may arise from the potential displacement of a separate guide scope.
The focus of the guide camera can be adjusted with a helical focuser. The camera connection features a 1.25" drawtube with a compression ring clamp, ensuring that the locking screw leaves no marks on the camera body. At the end of the drawtube, there is also a T2 external thread.
On the telescope side, there is an M48 thread. On the camera side, a ToupTek or ZWO filter wheel can be screwed on; in its absence, the M54 adapter ring included in the basic package should be installed, allowing easy connection of cooled ToupTek cameras. For cameras with a T2 thread, an additional optional M54/T2 adapter is required.
The off-axis guider uses 17.5 mm of optical path.
