The Skywatcher Virtuoso 90/1250 Maksutov-Cassegrain telescope is an exceptionally compact and portable instrument that delivers excellent image quality and can also be controlled via a mobile phone or tablet using the Wi-Fi module.
The Virtuoso is essentially a mini Dobson mount with built-in high-resolution encoders and a synchronous motor. To begin observing, point the telescope north and then align it with Polaris. The tracking function can then be used immediately. The mount offers even more possibilities: with a Wi-Fi adapter and mobile app, you can also capture impressive panoramic photos and time-lapse recordings. It can be powered by 8 AA batteries or an external 12 V power supply. A 3/8" tripod thread is located on the bottom of the Dobson mount, allowing it to be mounted on a Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer tripod for more comfortable observing.
The 90 mm Maksutov-Cassegrain optical tube delivers surprisingly good image quality. Thanks to its long 1250 mm focal length, magnifications of up to 200x can easily be achieved with optional eyepieces. At such magnification, you can study the Moon's surface features or Saturn together with its magnificent rings in detail. The short optical tube, measuring less than 30 cm, and the lightweight mount make this instrument easy to transport, so you can take it almost anywhere.
The SkyWatcher Virtuoso 90MC comes with 25 mm and 10 mm Barium eyepieces, providing 50x and 125x magnification. A StarPointer makes it easier to locate celestial objects. The T2 thread at the rear also allows a camera to be attached.
The Wi-Fi module enables control from Android or iOS mobile phones and tablets: after a brief alignment procedure, the telescope can be pointed at any of the 42,900 objects listed in the SynScan app catalogue.
