The Skywatcher Evostar 150/750 Acromatic Refractor is a powerful, very bright astronomical instrument, ideal for high field observations of star clusters, nebulae or comets, but also for beautifully revealing details of the Moon or planets. It is also a good choice if, in addition to the large diameter, the compact size and portability are important considerations, as the tube is only about 70 cm long.
All the surfaces of the substantial lens have been multicoated with a fully multicoated anti-reflection coating, so the image seen is nicely drawn and contrasty, especially at low to medium magnifications. As magnification is increased, colour aberration becomes more pronounced, so magnifications higher than 150x are not recommended. The telescope is, however, excellent at observing large, bright and faint deep sky objects. In its huge field of view you can see many sparkling star clusters, nebulae or even distant galaxies. The standard 9x50 SpringLoad finder scope makes finding faint objects much easier.
The telescope has a 2" (50.8 mm) focuser, so it can easily be expanded with 2" zenith mirrors and wide-angle eyepieces that give a huge field of view3.5 degrees, up to 7x larger than the telescope's field of view, making deep sky viewing even more spectacular and enjoyable. With the addition of a further 2" deep sky filter, you can enjoy the mysterious emission nebulae of the summer and winter skies in all their glory in dark, rural skies.
The Skywatcher Evostar 150/750 refractor can also be used for astrophotography, but due to colour aberration, we recommend using narrow band filters for images of hydrogen clouds or supernova remnants. The T2 thread allows you to connect a variety of accessories, including a CCD camera or even a SLR.
The EQ5 is the smallest recommended mount for the telescope.
