Are you frustrated that celestial objects quickly drift out of your telescope’s field of view, and that the image shakes whenever you touch it to bring them back into view? If so, a motor drive is the solution: it makes your time at the telescope even more comfortable, as it enables your telescope to automatically track the selected object.
In addition to tracking stars (operating as a clock drive), the stepper motors can also make correction movements on the appropriate axis. The single-motor controller naturally allows movement at 2x and 4x speeds on the RA axis only. The dual-motor controller provides 2x, 4x and 8x speeds on both the RA and DEC axes.
The controller with an ST-4 port makes astrophotography easier and offers numerous additional functions compared to the basic hand controller: in addition to sidereal tracking, it can track at Solar or Lunar rates, features a 0.5x correction speed, and most importantly, includes an ST-4 standard autoguider input, allowing the use of external guiding solutions.
The Celestron CG-4 motor drive is compatible with the manufacturer’s Omni CG-4 mount or the Sky-Watcher EQ-3 mount.
The motor controllers can be powered by 4 D-cell batteries; a separate battery holder is included in the box. (Batteries are not included.) An external 6 V power supply can also be used.
Attention! Please note when purchasing that the clock drive (single-motor) version cannot be upgraded to a dual-motor version, as it uses a different hand controller!
