If you want to use your telescope in the field or don't have a 220V mains power source handy, you need a battery. Depending on the battery capacity and the telescope mechanics, you will be able to operate your mechanics and other accessories for varying lengths of time. (The operating time depends on the battery condition and temperature and of course on the power consumption of the mount)
The 12V/9Ah battery can power SkyWatcher EQ-3/5/HEQ-5/EQ-6/AZ-GT mounts for about 4.5-6 hours (smaller, half-arm Goto mounts for about 15-18 hours)
The 6V/4Ah battery is recommended for use with SkyWatcher EQ-2/EQ-3/EQ-5 stepper motor (both single and dual motor versions) controls. It can run the motors for approximately 15-20 hours.
Our charger has a 0.8A output, which allows you to charge the batteries. It is equipped with a fast charger as well as a drop charger function, thus ensuring gentle charging. The device is also equipped with short-time protection and polarity protection, max. 1 minute. For ease of use, an LED informs you of the charging status, the red LED changes to green when the battery is fully charged.
A power cable can be purchased separately for the package depending on the type of mount or other external device. The battery charger is not included in the package, it can be purchased separately.
