The SkyWatcher AZGTi 130/650 Newtonian is a good choice if you're looking for a telescope that will let you see more celestial objects on your first viewing than Galileo ever did in his lifetime, and at a great price. The 13 cm optics are large enough and of high quality to show you the brightest galaxies, star clusters and surface details of planets and the Moon.
The SkyWatcher AZGTi 130/650 Newtonian telescope creates its own wireless connection, so it can communicate with your mobile device in places where wifi or cellular networks are not available. The SynScan app, which can be downloaded for free from the App Store or Play Store on your device, makes it easy to control the scope. This is a particularly useful feature for beginners, as you don't need to know the names and locations of the stars, just set up a bright star or two to learn the mechanics. Manual movement can be used after the mechanics have been trained and automated, and you can switch between automatic and manual search at any time without losing position. The telescope can also be used with the SkySafari planetarium software, which can be downloaded to a mobile phone and includes, among other features, an updatable database of small planets and comets.
The package includes a 25 mm and a 10 mm eyepiece, which provide magnifications of 26x and 65x, respectively. For additional magnifications, the most economical solution is to use 2x Barlow lenses. The eyepiece tray can be fitted with a range of accessories.
The AZGTi mechanics can be trained to move the telescope freely by hand without "losing" its position in the sky.
The telescope is equipped with an external power supply for operation from a car cigarette lighter or battery. An optional power adapter is required for operation from a 220V mains supply.
