The SkyWatcher AZ-GTiX mount is unique in that it can accommodate two smaller optical tubes simultaneously.
This GoTo alt-azimuth mount can be controlled via Wi-Fi using an Android or iOS smartphone or tablet. The manufacturer’s app is available as a free download, while the SkySafari planetarium software can also be purchased, featuring, among other things, an updatable asteroid and comet database. Thanks to its built-in encoders, the mount can also be moved freely by hand without losing its position, allowing you to switch between automatic and manual slewing at any time without realignment. For those who prefer traditional controls, it can also be used with an optional SynScan hand controller.
The SkyWatcher AZ-GTiX mount features a built-in battery compartment and can operate on AA batteries. It also has an external power input, allowing it to be powered from a car cigarette lighter socket or battery. An optional AC adapter is required for operation from a 220 V mains supply.
The mount has a payload capacity of 6 kg per side; however, when used on both sides, the manufacturer recommends a maximum total payload of 10 kg. The mount head features a Vixen-compatible dovetail bar and a 3/8" thread on the underside, allowing it to be attached to a photographic tripod. Weighing just 4.7 kg, the complete mount is easy to transport.
The mount also features an exposure control function; all that is required is a shutter release cable compatible with your camera brand.
