The SkyWatcher Evostar 102/1000 Lens Telescope is ideal for beginners looking for a comfortable, sharply focused and low-maintenance instrument for studying the planets.
Planetary Observation Above All
The 102 mm diameter lens telescope is the ideal instrument for the discerning beginner. The superb optics reveal the surface details of the Moon and planets with exceptional sharpness and contrast - up to 200x magnification. The famous Cassini slit in Saturn's ring and Jupiter's Red Spot are all within reach. On favourable days, you can also see the white snowcap and rusty-brown surface of Mars.
Rich Features
With the standard 25 and 10 mm Super Barium eyepieces, 40x and 100x magnification is available, with 1.25" zenith mirrors in the standard version and 2" in the deluxe. The 6x30 viewfinder telescope helps for comfortable use.
Stable mounts
Stability is not worth skimping on! The EQ-3 equatorial mount provides a stable support, while the fine adjustment axes allow precise tracking of celestial bodies. We recommend the addition of the EQ-3 with a clockwork to increase the comfort of your observations. The telescopic aluminium foot of the mount can be adjusted to your height, and the eyepiece tray can be fitted with a variety of accessories, including your sighting scope.

Kezdő csillagvadászként az optikával tökéletesen elégedett vagyok. Közepesen fényszennyezett külvárosi égen a bolygókat és nyílthalmazokat gyönyörűen mutatja, haloványabb ködökkel, galaxisokkal viszont meggyűlik a baja - tisztább vidéki égen még nem teszteltem. A 2"-es kihuzatának köszönhetően nagyobb kiterjedésű objektumok megfigyelésére is alkalmas, pl. GSO SuperView 42 mm-es okulárral 2° feletti látómezőt produkál.
A "cső alatti" alkatrészek viszont hagynak némi kívánnivalót maguk után. A fókuszírozó meglehetősen darabos mozgású (új állapotában is recsegve állítható), a kenőanyaga szokatlanul ragadós, megfigyelés közben véletlenül belenyúlva komoly kellemetlenséget okozhat.
Az EQ3 mechanika kuplungrögzítő karjai könnyen kilazulnak, az egyik nem is fordítható teljesen "zárt" állásba, kb. 2 fokkal a merőleges előtt megakad. Vélhetően egyedi hibáról van szó.
Az alumínium háromlábat kicsit kevésnek érzem ekkora cső alá, finomállítás és kisebb széllökések után több másodpercig tart a kép stabilizálódása - ez nagyobb nagyítások mellett rendkívül zavaró. Nem kizárt, hogy a kuplungrögzítés hibája is szerepet játszik ebben. Érdemes lenne minimum a deluxe verziót acéllábbal kínálni.
Szűk két hónapos használat alapján maga a műszer "látványból"/teljesítményből jelesre, a mechanikai körítés viszont csak elégségesre vizsgázott.
