Celestron NexStar SLT 6 SC telescope is primarily recommended for those who are unfamiliar with the night sky but want to discover the fascinating world of deep-sky objects as quickly as possible. Its computer-controlled GoTo system makes this easy. From a dark observing site, it reveals numerous distant galaxies and star clusters, as well as lunar craters, Saturn’s rings, and Jupiter’s cloud bands. It is suitable not only for astronomical observations but also for daytime nature viewing.
Thanks to its Schmidt-Cassegrain optics, the telescope is ultra-portable: its compact optical tube has a 150 mm aperture and a 1500 mm focal length. The telescope is supplied with two eyepieces: a 25 mm eyepiece providing 60x magnification and a 9 mm eyepiece providing 165x magnification. The mirror diagonal ensures comfortable viewing. Manual object finding is made easier by the red-dot illuminated StarPointer, which is also useful for identifying the area surrounding automatically located objects.
The NexStar+ hand controller is easy to use, even for first-time telescope buyers. Thanks to Celestron’s SkyAlign system, you do not even need to know the stars to align the telescope. Any of the approximately 40,000 objects in the hand controller’s database can be located and tracked by the telescope with just a few button presses. If that is not enough, it can also be controlled from a computer.
The NexStar mount is powered by 2 sets of 4 AA batteries, but it can also be operated with a mains power adapter (DC 12V). The steel tripod provides stable support.
