The NexStar SE series is Celestron's latest development, designed with maximum portability and usability in mind. The smallest member of the series is a high quality 102mm Makasutov-Cassegrain telescope, with Celestron's state-of-the-art XLT coating on the optical surfaces for superior light gathering capability. A built-in tilting secondary mirror allows you to switch between 90° and 45° viewing angles for easy observation and astrophotography.
The NexStar handheld GoTo control allows you to store data on nearly 40,000 objects and point the telescope at any one of them. It features Celestron's proprietary SkyAlign alignment mode, which for many is the most user-friendly way to learn. No need to know the names or locations of the stars, simply align three bright stars to set up the mount. The mounts allow the use of any telescope with a Vixen-compatible prismatic mount. The latest software version can always be downloaded from the internet, and it also allows PC control.
Stable support is provided by the steel foot mount, which also includes a built-in equatorial wedge.
The telescopes can be battery powered (although this is not recommended) and also feature an external power supply connection for operation from a car cigarette lighter or SkyWatcher PowerTank battery. An optional 12V mains adapter is required for operation from a 220V mains supply.
