With the help of dovetail clamps, telescopes equipped with Vixen dovetail bars can be mounted onto various flat surfaces. Another application is to use it for balancing an existing optical tube (SC, MC). By attaching additional weight to the tube's dovetail bar, it becomes possible to adjust for the counterbalancing of accessories on the focuser side.
The dovetail clamp features a total of four 1/4" tripod female threads: one in the center and three more at the edges. The distance between the two mounting holes is 35 mm, and the manufacturer includes countersunk M6 screws and nuts for this purpose.
