The Askar Colour Magic D2 Duo Band (SII & OIII) filter is an effective tool for capturing celestial detail with a colour CMOS astrophotography camera or DSLR. It significantly reduces the harmful effects of light pollution while enhancing the contrast of deep-sky objects.
The Askar Colour Magic D2 Duo Band filter targets the SII and OIII emission lines, which are essential for observing interstellar nebulae and supernova remnants. Its 2" size allows easy integration into a wide range of astrophotography systems. Its advanced, if not particularly imaginative, anti-reflection coating—named "Super"—minimises unwanted reflections.
In the SII range, the filter operates with a bandwidth of 8.5 nm, delivering excellent performance at a wavelength of 672 nm. In the OIII range, its 6.5 nm bandwidth captures information around the 500.7 nm wavelength, enabling detailed observation of planetary nebulae and other oxygen-rich objects.
