The Askar Colour Magic D1 Duo Band (H-Alpha & OIII) filter is an effective tool for capturing detailed views of the night sky with a colour CMOS astronomy camera or DSLR. It significantly reduces the detrimental effects of light pollution while enhancing the contrast of deep-sky object details.
The Askar Colour Magic D1 Duo Band filter targets the two primary H-alpha and OIII emission lines, which are essential for observing interstellar nebulae and supernova remnants. Its 2" size allows easy integration into a wide range of astrophotography systems. Its advanced, though not particularly imaginative, anti-reflective coating named "Super" minimises unwanted reflections.
In the H-alpha range, the filter operates with an 8.5 nm bandwidth, delivering excellent performance at a wavelength of 656.6 nm and highlighting hydrogen-rich regions. In the OIII range, its 6.5 nm bandwidth captures information around the 500.7 nm wavelength, enabling detailed study of planetary nebulae and other oxygen-rich objects.
