The Acuter Voyager MAK127-FAST MC optical tube introduces several innovations to the world of Maksutov–Cassegrain telescopes. Its optics feature a faster focal ratio than usual, complemented by a unique friction-drive focusing system.
Shorter focal length, faster focal ratio
The 127/1359 mm MC optical tube has a slightly shorter focal length than similar models and a faster focal ratio (f/10.7). This provides a wider field of view and allows for shorter exposure times when taking photos or recording planetary videos. Although the Acuter Voyager MAK127-FAST MC optical tube is supplied with a 1.25" mirror diagonal and eyepiece, the tube features a 2" connection. This supports the use of longer focal-length, wider-field eyepieces with an optional 2" mirror diagonal.
The friction-drive focusing mechanism makes the telescope particularly convenient for daytime observations. The mount also features an external distance scale with markings at 16 m, 32 m and infinity, allowing fast and easy focusing.
The optical tube is equipped with a Vixen dovetail bar for quick attachment to astronomical mounts, while its 1/4" photographic thread also allows it to be mounted on a conventional photo tripod.
Weighing just 4.3 kg and measuring 480 mm in length, this telescope is compact, easy to carry and an ideal travel telescope.
Acuter Traverse Pro GoTo mount
The included Acuter Traverse Pro alt-azimuth GoTo mount can be controlled from a smartphone or tablet via cable, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. Following a brief alignment process, the free-to-download Acuter Sky app lets you easily select any of more than 11,000 objects, which the mount will automatically locate and track.
Power can be supplied by 8 AA batteries placed in the battery compartment integrated into the mount head, or by an external 12 V power source, such as a gel battery or mains adapter.
The SNAP port on the mount head also supports exposure control for DSLR cameras, based on settings entered in the app.
The included T10 tripod attaches to the mount head via a 3/8" thread. With the legs fully extended, its maximum height to the top of the mount head is 134 cm. With the legs retracted, its minimum height to the top of the mount head is 87 cm.
