The tilt adapter is particularly recommended for solar imaging in the H-alpha range when distracting bands or wavy lines appear in the image. (This is a more or less natural interference phenomenon.) The adapter allows the camera sensor to be tilted slightly relative to the optical axis, eliminating interference patterns.
For deep-sky imaging, the device serves the exact opposite purpose: if, for any reason, the camera sensor is not perpendicular to the optical axis, this adapter can be used for correction.
The focal plane can be adjusted in any direction using the 6 adjustment screws on the adapter. Both sides feature T2 threads for connecting various devices. On the Mark II version, the screws are recessed grub screws, allowing larger cameras to fit as well.
The adapter is 11 mm thick (without the T2 adapter).
