The ZWO motorized filter wheel allows you to change filters quickly and easily under computer control, providing significant convenience for both visual observing and astrophotography.
The filter wheel features T2 threads on both sides for connecting the telescope and camera. It connects to a computer via USB 2.0 and, after installing the ASCOM driver, can be controlled using any compatible software. A 1.25" focuser adapter is also included in the package.
The ZWO motorized filter wheel is housed in a high-quality aluminium body, measures just 20 mm wide, weighs 400 grams, and is compact enough to fit in the palm of your hand. Thanks to its slim design, it can be positioned remarkably close to the camera sensor, eliminating the risk of vignetting even with fast telescopes.
The filter wheel accepts up to 8 mounted or unmounted filters. This number of different filters is sufficient even for the needs of dedicated and serious planetary and deep-sky observers. Which filters should be used with the filter wheel? For visual deep-sky observing, light pollution filters, narrowband UHC filters that improve the visibility of emission and planetary nebulae, as well as various line filters such as OIII and H-beta are recommended. For planetary observing, a wide range of colour filters is available to make low-contrast surface details easier to see. For astrophotography, L, R, G and B filters or narrowband filters such as H-alpha, OIII and H-beta are recommended.
