The ZWO motorized filter wheel for 7 × 2" filters allows you to change filters quickly and easily under computer control, providing significant convenience for both visual observing and astrophotography.
The filter wheel features M54 threads on both sides for connecting the telescope and camera. It connects to a computer via a USB 2.0 port and, once its ASCOM driver has been installed, can be controlled using any compatible software. The filter wheel is also powered via the USB 2.0 port, so no additional cables are required—one USB cable is sufficient. The ZWO motorized filter wheel has a maximum power consumption of approximately 120 mA at 5 V, allowing it to be powered from the USB 2.0 port of a cooled CCD camera. The package includes M54/M48 and M54/T2 adapter rings for connecting various devices.
The ZWO motorized filter wheel is housed in a high-quality aluminum body, measuring only 20 mm in width and weighing 650 grams. Thanks to its slim design, it can be positioned surprisingly close to the camera sensor, eliminating the risk of vignetting even with fast telescopes.
The ZWO motorized filter wheel has 7 filter slots. This number of different filters meets the needs of even the most dedicated and serious planetary and deep-sky observers. Which filters should be used with the filter wheel? For visual deep-sky observing, light pollution filters, narrowband UHC filters that enhance the visibility of emission and planetary nebulae, and various line filters such as OIII and H-beta are recommended. For planetary observing, you can choose from a wide range of colour filters that make low-contrast surface details easier to see. For astrophotography, L, R, G and B filters and/or narrowband filters are recommended, such as H-alpha, OIII and H-beta.
