The ZWO ASI 662 MM monochrome camera features a SONY IMX662 type, back-illuminated sensor. The sensor, supporting Starvis-2 technology, boasts high sensitivity (QE ∼91%) and a resolution of 2.1 megapixels, with pixel size measuring 2.9 microns. The extremely low readout noise (0.8 e-) allows for capturing fine details in lunar and planetary imaging.
At a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1080 with 12-bit dynamic range, the camera can capture lunar, solar, and planetary images at a speed of 107 fps. The rich dynamic range is also advantageous for deep-sky imaging to display fine details, further enhanced by the camera's HCG (High Conversion Gain) mode.
The ZWO ASI 662 MM monochrome camera does not include a built-in UV/IR cut filter, making it extremely sensitive in this wavelength range. Naturally, a UV/IR cut filter can be placed in the optical path if necessary. Since the camera is equipped with an ST4 port, it can also be used as a guide camera.
The camera features a heat dissipation "pad" that directs the heat generated during sensor operation into the environment. As a result, the sensor operates at temperatures up to 15°C lower during long exposure imaging, reducing noise on the capture.
