ZWO ASI 2600 MC Pro Air color, cooled camera

ZWO has integrated three devices, an astrophotography camera, an driving camera and the popular ASIAir mini-computer, into one, in the professional-grade ZWO ASI 2600 MC Pro Air colour cooled camera.

The main imaging unit has been equipped with a high-end back-illuminated sensor, the latest development in Sony s highest sensitivity 16-bit color depth. Unlike mono cameras, the color, so-called "single-shot" cameras simplify the work of those who prefer to shoot with a non-L-RGB color filtering technique.

A special feature of the camera is that, using the principle of the Off-Axis-Guider system, the telescope tube is used for imaging by both the astrophotographic camera and the guide camera, which is built into the same camera housing. In fact, the control-recording unit of the ASIAir is also integrated with them. This move saves a separate guide scope, a separate guide camera and the weight and size of the control unit.

The ZWO ASI 2600 MC Pro Air colour cooled camera features a unique APS-C sized, high dynamic range, 23.5 x 15.7 mm (28.6 mm diagonal) 26 megapixel (6248 x 4176) CMOS sensor, combining extra-low noise with high sensitivity. The sensor is made up of pixels with a size of 3.76 microns, which allows for an extremely high resolution. 16 bit ADC converter and QE above 80% promise extremely high performance in deep-end photography.

The camera features a powerful Peltier cooler that keeps the sensor up to35°C below the outside temperature, so you can capture fine details of galaxies. To compensate for the high cooling capacity, the camera also boasts built-in anti-fog heating. A 2GB DDR4 memory buffer is responsible for stable, high-speed data transfer, as well as virtually zero "fade-in" errors during long exposures.

Data transfer between the ZWO ASI 2600 MC Pro Air color cooled camera and computer is via a USB-C connector. Additional devices can be connected via 4 USB 2.0 ports. Wirelessly, you can control the built-in ASIAir mini unit from your smartphone or tablet via a WIFI connection. Bluetooth- can only be used to operate AM3, AM5-N mechanics! For SkyWatcher mechanics, it is recommended to get an EQ-mod cable for driving, as the ST4 port is not available on the camera. The ASIAir mini-module's 256Gb of internal storage can hold plenty of footage, but its USB-2 port can also handle up to 1TB of external storage.

For image capture, there's a range of free software available to download from the internet, and for Windows we particularly recommend SharpCap and FireCapture. The cameras require Windows XP or later, but can be used under Linux and even have Macintosh support.

Even without cooling, the camera requires a 12V supply with a minimum of 3A, so an external power supply is essential for operation.
