The TS-Optics AZ5 Alt-Az Mechanism Head is a heavy-duty azimuthing mechanism head that can be used to mount up to two instruments simultaneously for nature and astronomical observation.
With fine adjustment on both axes, the mechanics head can carry a total load of up to 13 kg at full stability, but its counterweight axis makes it practical to use with a telescope if a standard 20 mm bore (maximum 5 kg) counterweight is also supplied, such as the one used with Skywatcher EQ-3/5 mechanics. The head does not have a clutch to accept Vixen rails as standard, but can be upgraded with a variety of platforms using M6 accessory screws, such as the Bresser Vixen standard 35 mm bore clutch. Unfortunately, this will require the purchase of special screws or shortening of existing ones.
It is highly recommended to use a sufficiently strong steel tripod, such as the Skywatcher steel tripod found under the EQ-3/5, HEQ-5, AZ-4 heads, for maximum stability.
