ToupTek G3M 224C color camera

The ToupTek G3M 224C colour camera stands out from the crowd with its high sensitivity and extra-low readout noise (0.75-1.5e). Its 3.75 micron pixel size makes it ideal for planetary photography. Thanks to its built-in guider port, it also provides excellent service when driving, and thanks to the modern sensor, it gives a similar limiting magnitude as the ZWO ASI 120 MM mini, while the sensor noise is lower.

The 1.2-megapixel camera, equipped with the Sony IMX224 sensor , delivers very clear and noise-free images even at shorter exposure times thanks to extremely low readout noise. Planetary images can be captured with very short exposure times, resulting in higher quality frames and a sharper, higher resolution final image. It's also suitable for capturing fainter deep-sky objects - planetary nebulae, compact galaxies - and binary stars, and 1.25" filters can be used if required using the adapter included in the basic package.

The ToupTek G3M 224C color camera features a USB 3.0 connector, capable of recording at up to 150 frames per second at the highest resolution of 1280 x 960 pixels, and at significantly higher speeds when using lower resolutions (ROI)

There are a number of free downloadable image capture software available on the internet, SharpCap and FireCapture are particularly recommended for Windows, but the manufacturer's own software (ToupSky) is also great for use. The popular PHD2 software also supports the camera, while the use of the ASCOM driver gives the device even broader support. The camera can be used with Windows, Linux and even Macintosh operating systems.
