Following the release of the Svbony SV241 USB hub and power distribution box, the new Svbony SV241 Pro computer-controlled USB hub and power distribution box has arrived. With the advancement of astrophotography, the number of electrical devices used for image capturing has significantly increased. To minimize the need for additional cabling, power supplies, and distributors, the Svbony SV241 USB hub addresses the tasks of USB data transmission and power distribution through USB and DC connectors.
What makes our SV241 Pro device even more special is its remote controllability. When connected to a computer, 5 DC 12V outputs can be switched on/off, and the voltage of 1 DC 0-12V output can be infinitely adjusted. Additionally, the voltage of 2 RCA outputs can also be adjusted, which is particularly useful for controlling dew heater systems. Furthermore, there is one DC 12V output that cannot be switched off or regulated.
This model also features USB-A 2.0 (3 ports), USB-A 3.1 (2 ports), and a USB-C port. The USB-A ports can also be switched on/off. The device includes two additional inputs for the included temperature sensor and the combined temperature and humidity sensor to receive data.
Using its own software or other ASCOM compatible programs (e.g., NINA), the device can be controlled. The temperature sensor provides information about the tube temperature, while the combined sensor measures the ambient temperature and humidity. From these measurements, the dew point value is obtained, indicating the temperature above which the tube will not fog up.
Let's review the inputs and outputs found on the device:
- DC 12V (max.: 10A) input for optional power supply or battery use, requires a 5.5x2.5 DC connector, the DC 5.5x2.1 is not suitable, outputs use DC 5.5x2.1 type
- 5 DC 12V outputs can be switched on/off
- 1 DC 12V output is infinitely adjustable
- 1 DC 12V continuous operation
- 1 USB-B for connecting the box to a PC
- 3 USB-A 2.0 can be switched on/off, for example, for filter wheel control
- 2 USB-A 3.1 for higher speed data transfer, such as transmitting camera captures, can be switched on/off
- USB-C for general data transfer
- 2 RCA outputs are infinitely adjustable, for example, for dew heater systems
- 2 jack inputs for connecting temperature sensor and combined temperature and humidity sensor.
The USB ports enjoy multiple protections:
- ESD protection (electrostatic discharge protection)
- Reverse polarity protection
- Overvoltage, overcurrent protection (USB)
- Short circuit protection (USB)
The Svbony SV241 Pro computer-controlled USB hub and power distribution box can be mounted using a 1/4"-inch (photo tripod thread) threaded hole at the bottom of the device, and two M4 threaded holes can also be used for this purpose. Moreover, it can be fitted into a finder shoe using the included foot. The device comes with two DC-DC cables, a DC cigarette lighter cable, and a USB-B to USB-A cable.
