The Svbony SV205 colour camera is a simple, affordable solution for displaying and recording the telescope image on a computer.
The camera is primarily recommended for imaging the Moon and planets. It is easy to use: after removing the eyepiece, insert the camera into the telescope focuser, then view the live image on a laptop or desktop computer.
The camera features a Sony IMX415 image sensor offering a 3264 × 2160 pixel resolution (7.5 megapixels). For video recording, it achieves 15 fps at maximum resolution and up to 30 fps at 1920 × 1080 pixel resolution.
The 1.45-micron pixels are suitable for capturing detailed images of the Moon and planets when used with an appropriate optical system. Data can be transferred to a computer at high speed via an USB 3.0 connection. The camera fits into a 1.25" focuser and features a filter thread at the front.
The Svbony SV205 is a plug-and-play device, so installing a separate driver is usually not required. However, image capture software is needed: SharpCap is recommended for Windows, while AstroDMx Capture is recommended for Linux.
