The Svbony SV199 1.25" ADC Atmospheric Dispersion Correction Prism is an image correction optical instrument for astrophotography, especially for high-resolution planetary and lunar photography.
It helps to eliminate the prismatic effect (the splitting of light from celestial bodies into elements) that occurs in the different density layers of the atmosphere as the light from the celestial body passes through the Earth's atmosphere and reaches the observer or camera. In practice, colour aberration is manifested by the appearance of a red or bluish colour around the edges of the object being photographed. When using a monochrome camera, the image of the planet is blurred because of this defect. This optical problem is even more pronounced in observations closer to the horizon.
The Svbony SV199 1.25" ADC atmospheric dispersion corrector prism "corrects" the colour error caused by the Earth's atmosphere. What makes the device particularly suitable for astrophotography is the fact that the correction effect of the prism is adjustable, so that it can be set to match the current atmospheric colouring to the nearest degree. The atmospheric colouring effect will depend on the weather conditions (state of the atmosphere), the height above the horizon of the object being photographed, and the type and diameter of the telescope used for the photograph.
