The Svbony laser collimator is designed for aligning Newtonian reflector telescopes. The primary and secondary mirrors of Newtonian telescopes can become misaligned during transport or due to thermal expansion. When this happens, the telescope cannot deliver the image quality it is capable of when properly aligned. After a few attempts, collimation becomes a routine task.
The advantage of laser collimators is that they can also be used in the dark, while the returning laser beam can be seen through the window on the side of the unit. This is also useful when adjusting the primary mirror at the rear of the telescope. It is particularly beneficial for longer Newtonian telescopes, as unlike with collimation eyepieces, you do not need to look through the eyepiece to see the effect of the adjustment.
The Svbony laser collimator is made entirely of metal and fits into a 1.25" focuser. With the included adapter, it can also be used in a 2" focuser. The laser brightness is adjustable in 7 levels, allowing the brightness of the projected dot to be easily adapted to the conditions.
