Azimuthal mechanics, such as the new AZ-5 from SkyWatcher are the first choice of amateur astronomers when maximum portability is the goal. It is also recommended for those looking for a stable and smoothly moving mount for nature observation, where two allen keys can be used to adjust the head to a near-vertical position for added stability. Maximum load capacity is 5 kg.
The mechanical head allows for flexible manual fine movement on both axes via finishing knobs. The head is compatible with Vixen prismatic rails.
The bottom of the AZ-5 head has a 3/8" thread for attaching to the top of photo tripods. We recommend the Star Adventurer tripod for this purpose.
