Amateur astronomers can often only judge the “quality” of an observing site subjectively. The observer’s current physiological condition can prevent an objective assessment, which is why instrumental monitoring is important. It not only helps you select the most suitable observing sites, but also allows you to track changes and trends in sky quality over time.
The measurement starts at the press of a button and takes approximately 8 seconds. Repeating it several times provides even more accurate results, because, as engineers say: “one measurement is no measurement”.
Important: Do not point the instrument at the Sun!
