Do you find the moon's light too bright, too blinding? You can reduce its glare with a moon filter!
Neutral density moon filters don't change the colour tone of the moon, they only reduce its brightness. We sell these filters with a range of transmittance values, the lower the transmittance, the darker the image seen in the telescope. Since the brightness of the Moon's light depends on a number of factors (Moon phase, magnification, telescope diameter, etc.) there is no one piece that will work in all circumstances.
For telescopes smaller than 10 cm, a 25% filter is recommended, for larger instruments a 12.5% filter may be recommended. A 6.25% light transmission filter is an ideal addition for telescopes 20 cm or larger.
Polarising filters offer more convenient use and should be considered before purchase.
