The Nikon Action EX 8x40 binoculars are recommended for those looking for a rugged, high quality binocular for general nature hiking. The 8x magnification of the Nikon Action EX is very easy to hold hand-held, even at long distances, but its magnification also magnifies objects well. Effective anti-reflection coatings (multi-layered) and prisms made from BAK4 glass material, also used in more expensive lenses, give sharp, contrasty images. The binoculars are surprisingly handy, and their shape allows for a comfortable grip for long periods of time.
