The LUNT LS40THa/B600 HA solar telescope reveals the true, dynamic face of our central star. We can watch "live" as the hot hydrogen gas erupting from the Sun's surface evolves in protuberances and changes before our eyes, almost minute by minute. If you've only ever seen the surface of our sun in visible light, H-alpha telescopes open up a whole new dimension of solar observation.
The LUNT LS40THa/B600 HA solar telescope with its 40 mm diameter and 400 mm focal length can now not only be used for visual purposes, but can also be used with smaller sensor cameras to capture what you see. Its light weight and compact size make the telescope extremely easy to carry and even an average photo tripod will hold it steady. There is of course a suitable thread on the telescope for mounting on a photo stand, but it can also be used with an astronomical mechanism that accepts Vixen rails.
The anti-glare 40 mm etalon filter on the front of the tube guarantees a bandwidth of 0.7A. This allows the atmospheric as well as "surface" features of the Sun to be observed with high contrast. Because the rotation of the Sun causes the light coming from the far side and the light coming from the near side of the observer to arrive at slightly different wavelengths, this difference can be corrected by an adjustment ring on the side of the block filter.
The LUNT LS40THa/B600 HA solar telescope has a B600 type block filter built into the zenith mirror to help achieve a larger field of view. For photographic use, it is important to note that these instruments have a very short backfocus, so it is mainly astrophotographic cameras that should be tried. The zenith mirror can accommodate any 1.25" eyepiece. The telescope can be focused using the helical eyepiece holder.
The telescope weighs 1.2 kg and is 41 cm long. Any 1.25" standard eyepiece is optionally available. The sun finder is included.
