If the counterweights of your mechanics can no longer balance your telescope with all the other accessories loaded on it, a Counterweight Shaft Extension Rod is a great help. If the mechanics are unbalanced, it is easy for the equipment to slip when the clutches are released, which can cause damage. On the other hand, it can also lead to premature wear on the precision fine mechanical components of your instrument. The counterweight shaft extension rod allows the counterweight to be moved further away, so that even fewer of them are needed for balancing.
The counterweight shaft extension rod is made of stainless steel. It is compatible with EQ-6/EQ-6R and HEQ-5 mechanical heads.
(It can also be threaded into the EQ-5 counterweight shaft in place of the safety screw, but the EQ-5 uses 20mm bore counterweights, while the rod is compatible with 18mm bore counterweights, so if you wanted to use it with an EQ-5, you would need an extra 18mm counterweight. Not compatible with EQ-3)
