With the unique Celestron StarSense module you can learn your mechanics in a professional way - even if you've never used an astronomical telescope before. Turn on your telescope, enter the exact time and geographic coordinates, and in 3 minutes the mechanics will automatically teach themselves.
How does it work?
The StarSense module consists of two parts: a camera and the StarSense handheld controller. You can place the StarSense camera in place of the searchlight, which takes a picture of the sky when the handheld is switched on. The handheld controller uses the stars to determine where the telescope is looking, which it can then use to teach the mechanics.
Once the telescope has been trained, it can instantly lock on to any of the 40,000 or so objects stored in the StarSense handheld's catalogue.
The StarSense module can be used with both Celestron and SkyWatcher goto scopes. The two devices are exactly the same except that the SkyWatcher version has an external electronics unit for connecting the hand control and camera. (Of course, it can also work with Celestron telescopes by omitting the external electronics - the necessary connectors are included in the mechanics)
The product is essentially compatible with all newer Celestron NexStar and SkyWatcher SynScan handheld goto mechanics.
