The Celestron Advanced VX Goto Mount is a truly advanced technology equatorial mount optimized for astrophotography, opening up new possibilities in astronomical photography. The AVX offers the features of Celestron's most advanced German equatorial mounts at a significantly lower price.
The new AVX mount is specifically designed for medium size (max:15kg) astrophotographic telescopes. This means that owners of smaller telescopes can access the premium mount features such as All-star method polar alignment (a useful aid when the polaris is not visible from the observing site) or autoguider support. Long exposure time recordings are greatly assisted by the permanently programmable periodic error correction. Thanks to the AVX mount, you can even shoot through the meridian without having to perform a meridian flip. So you can photograph celestial bodies when their visibility is at its best. Compared to previous solutions, the AVX offers significantly increased stability. The improved motors have higher torque and guide the telescope accurately even with minor imbalance. Legs are also thicker than usual at 50.8 cm (2") in diameter.
Compared to the larger, observatory-grade mounts, the AVX series also stands out among equatorial mounts for its portability. If you are new to astrophotography, the AVX Series is an excellent choice for its ease of use and advanced technology. Celestron's AVX series will satisfy the needs of amateur astronomers interested in both astrophotography and visual observation.
The mount can even accommodate Vixen standard prismatic telescopes, but maximum stability is achieved with telescopes with CGE connections. The CGE is similar to the Losmandy rail, but is not compatible with it because of its size differences.
The Celestron Advanced VX Goto mount consists of the mount head, 2" steel tripod, hand controller, a single 5.4 kg counterweight and a cigar-lighter power cord.
