The Baader 2" Polarizing Filter is most commonly used to reduce the brightness of the Moon and planets. By screwing two filters together and rotating them relative to each other, light transmission can be adjusted between approximately 2% and 40%.
The advantage of this solution is that the degree of light reduction can always be conveniently adjusted according to the magnification used and the lunar phase. Unlike fixed-transmission lunar filters, the image will therefore never remain dazzlingly bright or become too dim. Thanks to its exceptionally precisely machined surfaces and anti-reflection coatings, the Baader 2" Polarizing Filter causes minimal image quality degradation.
TIP: The most convenient way to use a pair of polarizing filters is to screw one onto the filter thread of the 2" mirror diagonal and the other onto the filter thread of the 2" eyepiece. You then only need to rotate the eyepiece to achieve the desired light transmission.
Please note that this product includes only one filter; two filters are required to achieve the light-reducing effect!
