Do you enjoy observing mysterious nebulae such as the Veil Nebula or the Owl Nebula with your telescope? If you are a lover of deep sky objects, then a variety of deep sky filters are almost a must-have accessory. Using these filters, you can study in particular the details of planetary nebulae or supernova remnants that you would not see without a filter, or only from a very dark sky.
The Astronomik OIII filter is a special deep sky filter. Its principle of operation is quite simple: it passes only certain wavelengths of incoming light, precisely those at which the objects above are emitting. Specifically, only the emission lines of excited state oxygen reach our eyes, all other wavelengths are "cut off" by the filter. The result is that the contrast between the sky and the object being observed is spectacularly increased, with the nebula almost popping out of the sky, making faint details visible. The OIII filters transmit less light than UHC filters, so are recommended primarily for telescopes 20 cm or larger.
All Astronomik deep sky filters are made with maximum care and precision by the manufacturer, so contrast and light transmission are the best possible. The extremely precisely polished glass material and the interference layer, vapor-deposited in about 130 layers, clearly set these filters above their competitors. Another advantage is their extraordinary scratch resistance, which is why they retain their transmission characteristics even after many years of intensive use. Thanks to the premium quality materials and machining, Astronomik filters do not degrade the image at all. Unlike cheaper filters, Astronomik filters keep stars completely point-like.
All Astronomik deep sky filters come with a 10 year full warranty!
