The Antlia LRGB V-Pro Filter Set (2") is a premium solution designed specifically for owners of monochrome CMOS astrophotography cameras. The 2" version is recommended even for full-frame astrophotography cameras with a sensor size of approximately 44 mm.
The package includes red, green and blue colour filters, as well as a UV/IR-cut filter. During their development, the manufacturer incorporated several clever features for dedicated deep-sky astrophotographers. What are these features?
- There is a small "gap" between the green and red channels, precisely where emissions from sodium-vapor and mercury-vapor streetlights occur. As a result, the filters reduce the image-degrading effects of light pollution.
- Antlia has made the blue channel "narrower" than usual. This solution reduces chromatic aberration in refractor telescopes, resulting in even higher-contrast stars.
- The blue and green channels slightly overlap in the O-III range, enhancing the signal level—and therefore contrast—at this wavelength. The transmission of the red channel is highest precisely in the H-alpha range.
The carefully considered design is also evident in the construction. The filters are made from Schott glass, with anti-reflection coatings, blackened glass edges and a low-profile filter cell as standard features. Antlia LRGB V-Pro filters offer surface accuracy of at least lambda/4 or better, placing them firmly in the premium category.
