The ABCs of Digital Astrophotography is a book for those who are just starting out in astrophotography and want to get more involved. The first part of the book covers the equipment and techniques needed. This is followed by a practical approach to deep-sky, cometary and planetary photography, including details on the image capture process and the processing of the raw images.
Advanced techniques such as false-colour deep-sky processing and planetary derotation are also covered. We use the most popular software such as Siril, AutoStakker and Photoshop for all of these.
A few words about the second edition
Compared to the first edition published 8 years ago, we have significantly revised and expanded the material of the book. On the one hand, new tools have been introduced, in particular the knowledge about astro cameras has been significantly emphasized. The workflow for deep-sky and comet processing has been based on the now popular Siril, and a working paper on comet processing has been added.
Expected release date: mid-May 2025
