The SkyWatcher Quattro 150/600 newton is the widest field of view model in the popular Quattro series, designed specifically for astrophotographers. Its light weight of only 5.7 kg (5.5 lbs) makes it stable to use with smaller mechanisms - an EQ-3 is recommended for visual observation and at least an EQ-5 for astrophotography.
For capturing bright, distant deep-sky objects, the SkyWatcher Quattro 150/600 is an ideal choice: the f/4 aperture allows shorter exposure times while the field of view is extremely wide. The included coma corrector, optimized for the APS-C sensor, provides a 0.86x focus reduction, reducing the effective focal length to 518 mm and increasing the brightness to an impressive f/3.45. The coma corrector is connected to the camera with an M48 thread, with an optimum sensor distance of 54 mm.
To ensure excellent imaging, the main mirror is made of low thermal expansion glass, which provides a more stable focus even under varying temperature conditions. The enlarged auxiliary mirror is held in place by extra-thin (only 0.5 mm thick) support plates, reducing diffraction spikes and promoting a vignetting-free field of view. The scope also includes a precision 2", 4-bearing, dual-speed LinearPower focuser with a 1:11 ratio for fine-tuned, precise focus adjustment.
While the SkyWatcher Quattro 150/600 is designed primarily for astrophotography, it is also suitable for visual observation - with the right eyepieces, it is a real treat for spotting deep-sky objects. Finding targets is made easy with the included 6x30 finder scope.
