Explore Scientific Sun filter (60-160 mm)

The Explore Scientific solar filter film is an indispensable accessory for solar observation through binoculars. Its affordable price, rugged hard paper design, and creative mounting options make it very attractive. The filter is made by the US company Thousand Oaks Optical and although it shows the Sun in a slightly yellowish tint, it looks natural. To adapt it to telescopes, small sponge triangles are included in the box, which can be cut to size with a snicker. (The product name indicates in brackets the outer diameter of the tubes that can be fitted.)

We recommend the solar foils in the mount for those who do not want to bother with making solar filters, but be aware that the factory solutions are often smaller than the objective lens of the telescope, and may therefore reduce the performance of your telescope to a greater or lesser extent.
