Use color filters to highlight low contrast details of solar system objects (Sun, Moon, planets). The principle of operation of colour filters is that they transmit light in the same or similar colour ranges as their own colour to a greater extent than in the complementary colour range.
For example, the complement of red is blue, the complement of red is green, and the complement of yellow is purple. As the color filter darkens the complementary color, it causes a contrast enhancing effect.
Our colour filters are 1.25" in size, have a high quality glass material and anti-reflective coatings to ensure excellent image quality. It is very important to choose a filter for the object you are observing and the diameter of the telescope. Darker, smaller filters can only be used effectively with larger diameter binoculars.
The general contrast enhancing effect of the Green colour filter makes it universal for both the Moon and planets. It is recommended for telescope diameters of about 8-9 cm. Its true power is shown when observing the Sun and Moon. For the Sun, it produces more contrasting sunspots and umbrae, but does not replace the solar filter, but complements it. This filter is most effective in highlighting the flare fields. In the case of the Moon, it reduces the brightness and increases the contrast. For planets, it enhances the contrast of the bands and polar regions when observing Jupiter and Saturn. In addition, it greatly reduces the chromatic aberration of binoculars with acromatic lenses.
Attention: always use a solar foil when observing the Sun!
